X-47B Stealth Drone Aircraft

Stealth drones incite absolute fear into the enemy.  Honestly, if I were an enemy combatant, I would hate drones.  They are quiet, deadly, and unrelenting.  Think terminator in the sky.  In any case, Northrop Grumman recently announced the X-47B.  What’s so special about he X-47B?  Well, it can be launched from aircraft carriers, can refuel in air, and can fly complete missions without user input.  Bow down puny mortal.

Here are some simple specs on the X-47B drone:

  • Wingspan: 62.1 feet
  • Length: 38.2 feet
  • Altitude: 40,000 feet
  • Range: 2,100 nm
  • Top Speed: high subsonic
  • Powerplant: Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220U
  • Weapons Bays: 4,500 lbs
  • Sensors: EO, IR, SAR, ISAR, GMTI, MMTI, ESM

The X-47B is expected to do flight trials soon.
